A cozy plaza tucked into the heart of Hawthorne Boulevard
Why is this needed?
35th Place is a low-traffic neighborhood street that intersects with the heart of the Hawthorne District. Four popular restaurants and cafes are located here—Seven Virtues Coffee Roasters, Rice Cafe, Fried Egg I'm In Love, and Frog & Snail—yet there are very few places for people to sit and eat. This plaza provides much-needed public space for the neighborhood.
How will drivers access Hawthorne?
Parallel streets (35th Ave and 36th Ave) would remain open to vehicular traffic.
When would it operate?
24/7 - people need a place to sit and relax morning 'til night, any day of the year!

“Designing streets for people, that make it easier to bike, easier to walk, and easier to take the bus — that’s the kind of recipe for the future success of cities.” —Janette Sadik Khan, former NYC DOT commissioner
